And for the few in the birther and media watchdog communities, they see hypocrisy. Why is the media not utterly denouncing those who question Cruz’s eligibility in the same way they have denounced the “birthers” who questioned — and continue to question — Obama’s?
Shade and Fraud own-petard hoisting? The hypocrisy is in the “birther and media watchdog community.” Mr Cruz’ birth is a matter of public record, which he freely concedes, his eligibility case involves a subtle, even trivial issue of constitutional law. Mr Obama is accused of a crime for which there is no proof was ever committed, much less that he is guilty of it. As for the media not rushing to defend Mr Cruz, why should they? He’s not being slandered. His critics are not accusing him of anything.
Some will accuse the media of instituting a double standard when it comes to these two cases because Cruz is a Republican and Obama is a Democrat. But nobody is accusing Cruz of lying about his past as part of a vast conspiracy to become president. It’s just not an apples-to-apples comparison.
I have a different theory: Obama is a black Liberal, Cruz is a Hispanic Conservative. And Hispanics are white–providing they’re Conservative first. Otherwise, they’re Mexican rapists..
Note how the writer has skilfully transformed the Cruz eligibility question into a Liberal Media conspiracy, while the Obamabirthers were ONLY concerned about the fact he might be lying, NOT trying to claim that he was a foreigner, an outsider, an illegitimate alien somehow ineligible for the Presidency.
He has also conveniently left out the fact that Cruz’s legitimacy is not being questioned by Democrats as he subtly implies(although you can’t really blame them for howling with glee and savoring every moment of the karma kontent of this komical klown kar kerfuffle). Cruz’s accuser is the Passive-Aggressive Birther in Chief himself, Donald Trump.
For the record, I have no intention of ever voting for Mr Cruz, but the fact that he was born in Canada has nothing to do with it. The geographical location of your birthplace merits neither your pride nor your shame; you had absolutely nothing to do with it. It really doesn’t matter. I’m sure the founders had good reason for reserving the Presidency (unlike any other office) for natural-born Americans, but that was in the early 19th century; today no one really knows what it was, or if they do, they don’t care.
