Personally, I could care less where he was born.

What steams me is how the mere allegation (or should I say malicious accusation?) that Obama might be foreign born sent Conservatives into a tailspin of outrage and indignation, while the certainty of Cruz's Canadian birth is suddenly all right with that same crowd. What better evidence of selective hypocrisy could anyone ask for?

Of course, lately, this situation has changed somewhat. Trump is considering seizing on this issue in order to eliminate his only serious rival for the GOP nomination. And even he is just testing the waters with this strategy, you will note he is not pursuing it with the same vigor he did in his crusade of calumny against the Kenyan Muslim Socialist. On the Left, the only serious consideration of the issue is Congressman Alan Grayson's (R-FL) threat to challenge Cruz in court in the event he's elected. It is clear this challenge would be unable to dislodge a duly-elected Presidente Cruz. Grayson's just a liberal troublemaker who loves to remind Conservatives of their hypocrisy. Even this challenge can not be brought forth until after the Presidential election because (in spite of what Mr Cruz claims) there is no clear legal precedent on this issue and no court ruling that establishes one.

Again, the real issue here is not about the trivialiity of whether or not someone born abroad is eligible to be president. Who cares? The real issue is how this supposedly solemn constitutional scrutiny was so severely focused on Obama, even though it could not even be shown to apply to him, and not to anyone else.

The allegations thus far are pretty nebulous, because as soon as they become specific they'll be shot down faster than John McCain.

Trump's just trying to raise uncertainty about a Cruz candidacy...McCain, I think, is struggling to retain a voice on the national stage.

Having said that, sure, it's possible that should Cruz win the White House, someone may decide to challenge his legitimacy in court. But presidents face legal challenges all the time, and I doubt that a Cruz administration would shy away from swinging a legal sledgehammer when it had to.
