One of them operates and navigates to provide protection for the first.  The &quot;wing&quot; boat wouldn&#039;t be navigating, it would be on the other boats&#039; flank.  Hence, only one navigator, if indeed there were any.

Second, it&#039;s obvious those boats violated Iranian space.  Had they been legitimate and in open waters a distress call would have resulted in a rapid and violent response.  And the US is well known to have no regard for boarders.

As a last comment, those boats were operating thousands of miles from the US, and right next to or in Iran.  Think about it.  Those boats weren&#039;t confronting Iranians on Long Island, they were thousands and thousands of miles away from home.  And the Iranians were at their own side door.  The US had no legitimate business being there and the Iranians did.</description>
