I have said here before that Facebook is a double edged sword. It is in its childhood and we have no idea what or how it will stir the caldron in the future. I sure don't. I am not even capable of what some choose to do.

China won't even let Facebook in.

Spewing tired old rightwing smears against Liberals really doesn't make a compelling case, Tom. Did you have to blow the dust off the line "making his money selling socialism and wealth redistribution" before typing it?

Maybe only a ten year old could get your point?

They're playing "thick" again.

A multimillionaire working for a gigantic corporation who is making his money selling socialism and wealth redistribution is not the same thing as a free-market capitalist making big money selling free market capitalism.

It's like the CEO of Five Guys writing endless hymns to low-cal vegetarianism.

Or Warren Buffett touting higher taxes for the rich while fighting his own tax payments in court.

A ten-year-old would get it.

Not because they're businessmen, but because they're honest, fearless, creative, courageous, and without them our society would not work at all. They take terrible risks and work very hard, they do something I could never do. I recognize I really don't have what it takes myself to do what they do.

Pure Communism can't deliver in that department. It fails to take advantage of every man's desire to take terrible risks and work unimaginably hard in order to make something of himself. It also lacks the self-regulation of competition and a free market.

But capitalism BY ITSELF cannot guarantee that.
It allows scoundrels and criminals to get access to the machinery that provides us with every single thing we need. And the market doesn't always work. Crooks are very good at finding ways to beat the system. And even the most reputable and conscientious capitalists simply have a different agenda than the society as a whole, and honest differences of opinion and conflicts of interest are bound to happen.

I'm sending you something in the mail. Its an magazine interview I conducted with a businessman I respect and admire a great deal.

I constantly hear you talking about the disdain that the business man has for the worker. In the post above, you took the roll of the business man.

..and your post made me realize that you guys don't realize something about me but I may not make myself clear on.

I post stuff to be discussed...it is not necessarily something I have *hell bent for election* even formed an opinion about yet. I want input. From now on I will have to P.S. my posts with this.

This is 2016. Shit is happening faster than I can blink....for the first time in many respects. I have to process and I wanted your help in this. You are my friends.

And his work was blown off, dismissed as worthless by conservatives on this board.

So was Obama's, so was Gore's, and no doubt there were others, although I don't keep score.

The moon is blue, I skipped breakfast, and sour grapes appear to be in season.

If you write books people are willing to pay money to read you should get paid, regardless of what the books are about.

I was just commenting on how conservatives believe that any liberal who's good at doing what conservatives think only they are good at must be a hypocrite. Liberal tycoons and entrepreneurs, like Soros and Buffett, are constantly being dismissed as phonies, while conservatives who do the exact same thing are considered heroes. Its as if being a liberal somehow disqualified them from being good at business or even talking about business.

And its not just writers. If you want to write
or perform songs, or make movies, or teach courses, about how crappy capitalism is, you have every right to do so if people are willing to pay for your product.

And if you are rich because you are a rock star, or an athlete, you are rich because people buy what you do. Just because you're rich doesn't mean you're obligated to cover up for the rich and make excuses for them, it doesn't mean you're not entitled to opinions that aren't (ahem) politically correct for conservatives. Just because you have money or a good income doesn't mean you have to give it away to the poor before you can speak out against a system that's rigged.

What Chris Hayes and people like him do is not illegitimate because some people find it uncomfortable, or embarrassing, or even threatening.

The US doesn't have capitalism. The recent bank crisis demonstrated we have socialism for large corporations. We have socialism for the oil companies, we have socialism for the pharmaceuticals.

The only capitalists run the equivalent of lemonade stands.

Our space program is subsidized, funded by the government.

Capitalism is a buzz word used by folks propagandizing the masses. You can fool some of the people all of the time.
