We have had an executive branch that is paralyzed by a treasonously dysfunctional legislative branch... and now this. This will drive the GOP further into madness- and if you thought the legislative Branch was broken before... Things just went from being broken, to being in flames. More than if one of the other Justices died, more than if a Vice President died, less than if a President were assassinated. It's sort of as if a leg on a table broke. The entire world seems a bit wobbly, less secure, less predictable. And the big guys are lining up for a helluva fight, fists will fly, chairs too, the world will be topsy turvy. Doesn't matter who seems to win, there will be a lot of everyone's blood and it will be hard to enjoy any victory. The Really Big Dogs are going to get it on. That's the tinge of gallows humor I sense. It's as if it's truly sunk in that we may well have a ringside seat at the end...of something, nothing so grand as the end of the world, but it's that expectant hush wondering whether <i>our</i> world will go into the crapper right now, or maybe this'll shake loose something better.
