We either believe our values are universal values or we are doomed to ultimately lose them. If Aztec civilization existed today would it be “equal to ours” in the eyes of regressive liberals? SO WHAT that they cut out the hearts of 30,000 people for Montezuma’s coronation!? It’s their culture and their way of doing things and that needs to be respected!? “ALL CULTURES ARE EQUAL”!?

There are countless examples of barbaric and unjust societies and cultures throughout history. Modern Western Civ is far from perfect, but the evolution of freedom, democracy, and respect for individual rights and the rule of law in the West is truly the best the human race has come up with so far. And it has gotten better in my lifetime as social justice has grown for minorities, women and lgbt.

No one, not even regressives, claim North Korean society is equal to democratic South Korea. Even liberals during the cold war strongly opposed communism, at the very least for being totalitarian.

So why do so many on the left give Islam a pass? Why is it ok for muslim men to rape their wives?
