Alternative sea ice extent from the Japanese Space Agency May 6, 2016 6:41 pm ER

https://ads.nipr.ac.jp/vishop/vishop-extent.html?N

Save this link, it is an interactive (which is why I can’t display it) arctic ice extent graph which allows you to compare this year’s ice extent with the previous three record low summer ice years

2012 (lowest),
2007 (2nd lowest),
and 2015 (3rd lowest)

as well as the decadal averages for the 80s, 90s, and 00′s. There is also a switch that allows you to see every year’s time series since 2000.

This may be the Blue Ocean Year, folks.
