Kudos to President Obama for initiating the process to declare the Stonewall Inn in Greenwich Village, New York City, as a National Monument.

The Stonewall was a gay bar repeatedly harassed and persecuted by Manhattan cops until 1969, when the patrons finally said “enough”, and resisted violently; the infamous Stonewall Riot, considered by many to be one of the seminal moments in the struggle for gay rights. Many LGBT activists celebrate that event as pushing off the modern gay rights movement.

Let me offer my congratulations and support to all our gay brothers and sisters. And for those of you who might feel offended by this event, I say, “tough shit”.
