There have been crucial times in American and world history which have had leaders who led us out of dire times.  A few of them after WWII are:

Korean War.  The darling of all American conservatives, that glory-seeking General Douglas MacArthur wanted to use nuclear weapons on Chinese targets.  In China.  At the time Russia also had nuclear weapons, was a functional ally of the Chinese and would have had to retaliate.  Nuclear war was averted when Harry Truman fired MacArthur.

During the Cuban missile crisis, the military and the Republicans on “Excomm”, the Executive Committee assembled by Kennedy wanted to invade Cuba.  Unknown at the time the Russians had tactical nuclear weapons under local control.  An invasion would have sparked WWIII, a nuclear holocaust.  Kennedy imposed an embargo instead, and resolved the issue peacefully, saving millions upon millions of lives.

After Ronald Reagan and George H. W. Bush as presidents the US was in dire financial straits.  Bill Clinton was elected president, pulled the US out of that mess, and left George W. Bush with a deficit.  After 8 years of this Bush America was again in desperate financial straits, terrible, and Barack Obama was elected president.  And now the American economy has rebounded.

In all of those cases a Democratic president has confronted one mess or another created by Republicans, Conservatives, the Party of Sarah Palin and Miclele Bachmann.  And Nixon, Huckabee, McCain, Goldwater,

Who’s your Daddy?  Who can you thank your chimney isn’t glowing with radioactivity?  Or your children?  And that your house is your house?

I can’t think of an excuse for Republicans.  Greed rules, and I don’t know what motivates the “family values” dupes who carry their baggage.  Maroons, all of them even though some are likable maroons.

And now Trump is mixing more Kool-Aid, and these folks are lined up again, cups out, wanting the dole, knowing they are going to heaven and the rest of the world will be left behind during the Rapture.  And once again it will be up to the Democrats to rescue the country and all Americans.  And probably the world.

What did Jesus say?  Something about forgiving 7 times 70.  The “eye for an eye” is so Old Testament.
