Hey, Rob- remember that racist GOP candidate we said was racist...? June 7, 2016 3:42 pm RL

…It turns out he was racist…

Who could have seen THAT coming?!

‘textbook definition of a racist comment’- Paul Ryan the day after endorsing Trump

GOP Senators Finally Starting To Realize Their Party Nominated A Total Racist

Sen. Mark Kirk (R-Ill.) became the first Republican member of Congress to rescind an endorsement of Donald Trump, saying on Tuesday that he could no longer support his party’s presumptive nominee for president after Trump’s racist attacks against a federal judge.

“I cannot and will not support my party’s nominee for President,” he said.

…
“‘We’re going to build a wall and make Mexico pay for it’ is not a serious proposal,” Flake said. “They want serious proposals on how to deal with this war on terrorism. Saying that you’re going to ban Muslims from entering the country is not a serious proposal.”

Kirk told NBC News that the rest of the party should follow his lead.

“I think we should send a strong message that racism and bigotry are not going to be tolerated in the party of Lincoln,” he said, adding that he plans to write in retired Army general and former CIA director David Petraeus in November.
…
“If anybody was looking for an off-ramp, this is probably it,” Graham said, referring to Trump’s attacks against Curiel.

“This is the most un-American thing from a politician since Joe McCarthy,” -Lindsey Graham

“His statements this week on the judge — that’s a new level,” Flake said. “Because it’s not just … ill-informed or ignorant statements, but they suggest that when he’s president, you know, after November, that … perhaps he ought to go after that judge. That’s a whole new level. So that’s — it’s very disturbing.”

Flake Suggests Convention Challenge to Trump

Said Flake: “Let’s face it: meet the old Trump, just like the new Trump. We’ve got what we’ve got. That’s not somebody who can win the White House.”

He added: “Where there’s no talk of a convention challenge or anything else, this might spur it.”

Iowa GOP lawmaker dumps party to protest Trump

“I haven’t supported Mr Trump at any point along the way but what I am calling his racist remarks and judicial jihad is the last straw,” Johnson told the Guardian.

Johnson compared Trump’s run for the Republican nomination to the rise of Hitler and said Trump won “by reducing his campaign to reality TV and large crowds and divisive language and all the trappings of a good show for those who like that kind of approach, and that’s what happened in the 1930s in Germany”.
He added: “I think that’s all I need to say, but certainly the fascists took control of Germany under the same types of strategies.”

Johnson also condemned Trump’s proposed ban on Muslims entering the US. Referencing his own father, who was in the first American unit to liberate a Nazi prison camp, Johnson said: “I was raised without hearing any racial slur, any racial epithet. It’s something that if we’re going to exclude Muslims from traveling to the United States, who’s next? Are we going to come down on Jews? … He’s not fit to be president.”
