That is what so pissed me off about TB's BS arguments here. They know they are selling lies, but they feel its important that they convince useful idiots...

In the end their radical ideology will kill far more people than radical islamic terrorists can dream of... hell, it already has thanks to their partnership with the NRA- The death toll from AGW will only be in the 10's of millions if we are lucky.

The GOP is stubbornly resisting any recognition of climate change not because they don't believe it, but because they realize their past resistance is now revealing them as short-sighted and obstructionist. Its an 'emperor's new clothes' phenomenon. They simply cannot afford to change their mind publicly on this question without admitting that their judgement on any issue is more determined by obstructing the Democrats than by any genuine opinions on the subject. That's why the anti-AGW partisans no longer post on this forum. They simply cannot afford to admit they were wrong, because they know that their failure on this question speaks volumes on every other topic they have taken a stand on.

Don't worry. If they should win the Presidency and retain control of Congress, you will see a flurry of climate control and mitigation measures rushed through Congress, because they can now see its their own miserable hides that are at risk. Of course, these legislative measures will be disguised as something else, anything but "dealing with climate change".

Like the infrastructure renewal legislation I mentioned in another post, you can count on them proposing it if they sweep the next election. These measures will be disguised as something else, and the rapidly deteriorating environment and natural infrastructure (not to mention the budget deficits which will result in implementing them during a time of drastic tax cuts for the rich), will be blamed on Obama's "failures in leadership", and his refusal to "compromise with Congress". The victors write the histories, and a Republican victory in November will not only change our future, it will also thoroughly rewrite our past and present. This is not the first time we have seen this. Have you noticed how business Conservatives are quick to take credit for the improvements in air and water quality and industrial and consumer safety and health (not to mention civil and workplace rights); improvements which they bitterly resisted when the government was moving to implement them?
Financial and commercial interests will object to any regulation that will cut into their profits. That is simply what they do. As Chris Hayes points out, <em>"In the absence of proper government, the strong will always take from the weak."
</em>

As the Russians start taking advantage of the Arctic ice melt by militarizing the N Polar seas, you will also start seeing massive American military expenditures to counter them, I have no objections to this, but you can count on not a word will be mentioned about the climactic realities that led to the situation in the first place.

And in a generation, if the US and the rest of the world are suffering from the environmental, social, economic and military catastrophes that will be a direct result of climate change, Conservative politicians (if they are still in positions of power) will be blaming the decline on Liberal policies starting with and dating back to the Obama Administration.
