Most of them are not all that different from Liberal ones, and debate only arises when arguing how much of each, or where to draw the line between the two. There really is no correct answer. If there were, we wouldn't need a democracy, we could just hire a manager.

The problem arises when ideological positions are simply excuses for selfishness, disguises to cover for self-serving agendas. This is not a peculiarly Conservative hypocrisy, Liberals are guilty of it too. We need each other in order to keep each other honest. There is no political or social or economic "truth". We have to hammer it out collectively as we go along, and sometimes we don't get it right the first time and have to try it again.

You'll just have to forgive me if I get a little suspicious when someone drags in the Flag or the Bible into what should really be a discussion on administrative policy.

I didn't watch all of either convention. Mostly heard speeches on the radio as I drove home from work and heard highlights in the morning

I am embarrassed by and for the GOP this year. I've mostly considered myself a moderate conservative and that hasn't changed, but I'm finding my values being better represented on the other side of the line this year. My vote won't really matter much being from a red state, but damned if I'm going to tell my kids I voted for the manchild Donald Trump.

and not because she's not Trump, but because she articulated a plan forward.

I recall someone here demonizing Democrats in the 2000s because they had to say America was doomed to get Bush out. Talking America Down was the name of the game. They were rank amateurs compared to that spectacle in Cleveland last week.
