Its not just navigation, our ordnance is blind without the satellites, our smart bombs won't find their targets if GPS is jammed, spoofed or shot down.

But of course, our military leadership and Silicon Valley engineers would never provide our troops with software that could be hacked by the enemy.

As for USMC Gen Neller's remarks, remember, the British wore red coats and marched across open fields in straight lines to the tune of fifes, and drums. We got to wear dull clothes, and hide behind rocks and trees.

No one's fought a big naval engagement between strong forces since WWII. Big naval battles occurring after long periods of peace marked by technological change are usually quite surprising for everyone involved. The few naval skirmishes we've had since have had very unexpected, even frightening, results. I think we are heading for a naval war in the near future, probably in the S China sea, and no one can predict how its going to turn out. I suspect its going to be a bloodbath, but I have no idea who will prevail.

Look up the Battle of Tsushima in 1905.
