The political internet does tend to get childish.

She made a joke about riding around on the back of the worlds fastest human and all people saw was a black man.

1. Cops go into black neighborhoods, where crime, drugs and violence and guns are everywhere.

2. They’re in no mood to take any shit, and they know any perceived weakness will be turned against them by thugs. They know they must establish control through fear or be overwhelmed.

3. So they kick ass and take names. They feel like they’re in Indian Country, outnumbered palefaces. They are scared and that makes them jumpy. Even the honest, decent ones. They may even get trigger happy.

4. The blacks who aren’t thugs and criminals feel like they’ve been occupied by an enemy force. They are angry, resentful, they hate the intruders who treat them like shit. Any slight or insult is magnified and exaggerated because they know they are not criminals, and hate being treated that way. They feel righteous and put upon because they try to do the right thing and only get treated like scum.

5. The ones who ARE thugs and criminals take advantage of the situation. They figure they can fight back and get away with it because they outnumber the demoralized cops and are often better armed. And the cops are afraid their own bosses will turn their backs on them to cover their own asses. So the thugs loot, and steal, take advantage of the civil disobedience and riots and do everything they can to aggravate it because it works in their favor. Those who may not normally be criminals, may see it as an opportunity to steal, take advantage of the chaos. A case of liquor, a color TV, a shopping cart full of prime beef…hell, if they don’t boost it, someone else will anyway, right? And of course, the kids, they love playing victim and feeling all righteous, like the ones in your post.

6.The cops who are decent and professional eventually get fed up with being spit on and ambushed and shot at. They cover for their buddies when they screw up, and they lie. And they push people around they normally wouldn’t hassle because they’re scared and tired and overworked and under stress all the time. And they shoot, sometimes when they have no reason to, because they’re pissed and they’re scared.

7. THe media comes in, politicians come in, activists come in, all with their own agenda. They aren’t necessarily evil, but they have their own agenda. The cops get tired of the thankless job where they’re more likely to get hurt or get accused of something, or abandoned by their own leadership. So they quit doing their job. This causes even more crime.

8. Go back to number 1. Rinse, spin-dry and repeat.

Like I said. The cycle feeds on itself, a mutually self-fulfilling prophecy. I know because I’ve seen it all before, I’ve experienced it, watched it happen. I know what I’m talking about.

Except this time, we don’t have a Martin Luther King to help keep the lid on it. We’ve got Donald Trump.

I meant what I said in the first paragraph.

Flames aside…this is just petulant adolescent indignation, getting even with whitey for centuries of slavery and Jim Crow by dumping an AHA! contradiction right back at them, probably from upper middle class black kids who’ve never experienced either slavery or Jim Crow in their entire lives. “Turnabout is fair play” is a very old children’s game.

Self-righteous kids of all races are always ready to climb on the high horse and say “See, how do you like it when they do it to YOU?” And of course, The NYDN, always desperate to publish evidence of hypocrisy in Liberals, Blacks, Democrats and uppity college snobs, is just exercising its own self-righteous indignation at finding their own AHA! contradiction. “See, see! Its a racist black! How come they get to do it but we get scolded for it? See? See?”

Its all “I told you so” or “he started it first” stuff. Bigots of all colors and races love to find justification for why they have no choice but to be bigots.

“You see? They do it too.”
