We got some rain and gusty winds when she stormed up the Florida Straits, but there was no damage or flooding here in Lauderdale. I didn't even bother with the storm shutters. I did fill up the cars and bought some batteries and canned goods because these storms can act unexpectedly with very little warning, but I think we're safe now.

Now that she's in the Gulf, she seems to be strengthening, and folks on the Gulf Coast from the Panhandle to Tampa are bracing for a small hurricane, and perhaps a big rain event.
She seems to be heading for the Big Bend area. But she's heading away from me, and the forecast says she will continue to do so.

Maybe its because she was named for my mom (Herminia, in Spanish), but I think this one missed us. Still, we are now moving into the peak part of the season. Statistically, mid-September is when we get hit most often.
