On the application of hammers to electronics September 5, 2016 1:47 pm mcfly

When I worked at a bank, the IT boys had a sledgehammer. When certain computers were decommissioned, the hard drive was wiped by conventional means, then removed, put in a bag and smashed.

I don’t understand the “shock” some people experience when learning that some State Department electronics were physically destroyed. Personally, I’d be amazed if they weren’t.
