And how about the deliberate obstruction and sabotage of the machinery of government? Remember, its not because of any sincere objection to methods and philosophy, but to simply discredit and destroy ideological opponents by making it impossible for them to do anything, even what everybody agrees they need to do; administer common-sense non-partisan government policy.

And finally, the deliberate and systematic appeal to the basest and ugliest aspects of the American soul and the simultaneous suppression and denigration of all that’s fine and righteous in this nation–all done in order to promote their own niggardly self-interest. And lets not forget the cynical exploitation of racism, fear, xenophobia, nativism and class differences for political purposes, the deliberate cultivation of distrust of government and public institutions, (except for those that acquire and secure property) the attack on science and humanistic values, the glorification of anti-intellectualism and know-nothingness, the establishment of a strident partisan press, the commercialization of the election process and the unholy alliance with lunatic fringe evangelical Christianity and fascistic, violent and heavily armed political factions.

I’ve been around for almost the entire Biblical three score and ten, and during that time I have always had an interest in public affairs, and in history. And never have I ever witnessed or studied such a complete lack of common decency and civic morality. This grotesque obscenity must be stopped, once and for all. And if we fail to do so, then we are as guilty of laziness and cowardice as they are of selfishness and greed.

This isn’t just about Trump. He’s just the tip of the iceberg.

The fact that he’s so close to becoming potus is a damning indictment of American democracy.
