<p>See above.</p>

By the way, the argument "just because the original story was wrong doesn't mean the people that repeated it are wrong" isn't holding up very well.

If the story happened a year ago Steve and TB would be crowing that it was proof that Russia saw us as weak, and would be criticizing any action Obama took in response as far too passive...

Surely they would tell us that a republican president would lay down the law and put Putin in his place.

But NOW, Putin is a misunderstood friend of the US and whatever his security apparatus does to us is for our own good....

Any other President-elect, R or D, would have simply said,

"These are serious and troubling charges. My staff and I will consult with
our intelligence community and tech experts and come up with an appropriate response should it become necessary."

And then he would have shut up: Reassure the public, acknowledge the problem, keep the enemy guessing, and later, when you have the facts and have thought it over, do something about it if necessary and possible.

Instead, our Mr Trump publicly tweets, "This is all a Democrat sour-grapes plot to discredit me because they lost the election. Its all an evil mainstream media hoax, like global warming."

I'd like to think he's acting dumb just to throw the Russians off, but I doubt it. I think he really IS dumb. Dumber than the people who voted for him, but nowhere near as dumb as those now rushing to his defense.

There has always been a strong anti-intellectual streak in the American soul. As a nation, we don't like smart people. We think they are sissies, effeminate, indecisive, cowardly, conceited, elitist, clumsy and arrogant. Of course, Americans aren't born any smarter or dumber on the average than anyone else in the world, but our culture distrusts, even despises smart people. As far as we are concerned, men should only be smart about sports or business. Any other evidence of intelligence is to be hidden. Its bad manners to pretend you're not as stupid as everyone else. Smart Americans learn real young to conceal it, while the dumb ones are proud to display that they are just like everybody else.

Or maybe he's just acting dumb to reassure his supporters that he's one of them.

Guess you didn't see the twitter people asking where to get the best candles, flashlights and even a crossbow.

Looks like Leahy is <a href="https://www.leahy.senate.gov/press/leahy-reaction-on-russian-hacking-of-a-vermont-electric-utility" rel="nofollow">spitting</a> all over himself.

Of course everybody is concerned about foreign countries hacking our grid, but this is like yelling fire in a theater when none exist.

And nobody thinks the Russian's are innocent when it comes to hacking. Them and several other countries are and have been for years.

But you see, we need to weed out false information from facts to better understand cyber attacks and their sources.

You're not helping much.
