And it’s not just the crime rate. Its a whole host of other issues, the economy, social issues, foreign and international issues, the government, the media, the elites, the poor, the immigrants, those smarty pants snobs who think they are better than we are, those OTHERS who are tirelessly working against us, because They hate Us, They envy Us, They are out to get Us. Because They Hate Freedom. And why? Because we’ve been too good to them and those ungrateful wretches never have enough. They are not like Us, They hate Us. That makes it OK to hate THEM, and hating someone makes you feel like you have finally identified the problem and finally someone, one of US, is doing something about it.
We’ll show ‘em. We’re mad as hell and we’re not going to take it any more.

Sure, there are a lot of problems, there always have been. And some really ARE getting worse! But the idea is to get people fired up and in a frenzy, so that they become convinced that their problems and their issues are part of a conspiracy, a plot by traitors and villains and criminals designed to betray them and take away what is theirs.

And THAT part, come to think of it, may just be true.
