The whole thing really depressed me. These were nice people, mostly youngish,
but some old hippies, too. There were lots of little old ladies in tennis shoes, and more
than a few granny dresses, tie-die tees and John Lennon glasses. A lot of the younger folks
brought their kids, the press was everywhere and the cops were polite.

But I realized these people don’t have a chance against those who will oppose them.
These were well-meaning yuppies, middle class, well-educated, and mostly white. But they
don’t have the Senate, or the House, the courts or governors and state houses. They don’t have the big bucks, or big business.
They certainly don’t have the President. They don’t have the hate and ferocity and reckless courage its
going to take to win this fight. They don’t stand a chance against the orcs.
