This isn’t just about a pompous buffoon who’s stumbled onto the highest office in the land. This is a coup d’etat.

The GOP and Trump have built their entire movement on an opposition to any form of socialized medicine. Here he is praising a national health system pretty much representative of the rest of the industrialized, democratic world.

There will be no uproar among Conservatives about this, no calls for his removal or impeachment, or even to discipline him for his big mouth. What it tells me is that now, preserving the Conservative control of the government is even more important than advancing Conservative policies.

This isn’t about a Conservative vision and program for America. Its about seizing and maintaining power.
