When I say “coup”, or “fascist” or “asshole” you don’t need to reach for a dictionary. Everybody knows exactly what I’m talking about.

Then they’ll invest every penny they save into opening new plants and hiring new workers, and you know they’ll all be Americans, they won’t have to hire Asian and South Americans to build their shit any more.

What I want to know is, if they succeed, who are they gonna get to BUY their shit?

In a related topic; I am so sick and tired of hearing how heavily taxed we are as a nation. American companies are usually more highly taxed than foreign ones. But the taxes on the average American worker are often lower than they are in most other countries. Of course, in other countries, they actually get something for their tax dollar, like health care and education.

Republicans would like to reverse that schedule; lower taxes on corporations and raise them for people. Unless, of course, the people get their income from stock or capital gains.

In news that few will find surprising, it appears that President Trump did not, in fact, invent the term “prime the pump” as he asserted in a recent interview with the Economist.

So, excuuuuuuuuuse me! In Spanish, its golpe de estado, literally and figuratively, the exact same thing. “Golpe” , like “coup”, means “blow”, or “strike”, as in “to punch with your fist or a truncheon”. So maybe “coup” is a technically incorrect term for an illegal and overt attempt by a sitting executive to pervert the nation’s constitution or government.

But if you’ll pardon my French, that’s a pretty chicken-shit distinction. I don’t think English has a precise term for that particular action, so I had to resort to a phrase that should have been clearly understandable to anyone in the context that I used it. English may not be my first language, but I do know the rudiments.

BTW, I don’t use the approved dictionary definition for “Fascist” either, but I know one when I see one.
