...responding in a chunk of thoughts larger than fit in a tweet. I remember making many posts longer than that one when this place actually had some readership and it was worthwhile.

Robert, who has a tendency to fixate on primate analogies uses the more rabid members here to repeatedly attack the "intruders" while he sits back and hopes they'll scare them off.

In this instance he responded directly, so he got a larger response - for old times sake. ;)

...which is sort of sad. Sadder still, is that you don't really perceive what's going on and if you do - you support it.

Most of the people on the left have a persecution complex. This is fed and catered to by sites like Huffpo and WaPo, NYT, MSNBC and all the rest of the alphabet soup.

Telling people that some group is going to persecute them is the easiest way to rally a mob.

Fear made it possible to lynch a black man in a flash, a century ago. "If he wasn't guilty of raping that white woman, damn he probably wanted to!"

The portrayal of Trump as Hitler the threatening authoritarian is laughable. It was laughable when you guys made Bush out to be Hitler. Bush was a paid for stooge of the globalists. I found out the hard way during the last year of his administration, but he was no Hitler. He was bought and paid for by Saudis - like his dad.

Trump isn't an authoritarian, either. He's an old softy.

But we must ask what do you define as an authoritarian? Is someone who upholds law and order an authoritarian? Every day the msm churn out propaganda why laws should be ignored.

"Some poor kid somewhere was split up with his parents because they were here illegally! Therefore immigration laws must not be enforced!"

It was laughable when they pulled that stuff on Pete Wilson when the CA voters still tried to keep their state from becoming overrun by illegals. Years later I watched them pull the same stuff on SB1070 in Arizona. It never ends. Laws are evil, police are all racist monsters, drugs are great and Western civilization is the root of all that is bad.

The folks who claim to be anti-authoritarian all seem to advocate breaking laws. Strange. Not ironically, many advocate violence to further their cause - the cause of breaking laws. The antifa are the SS Nazi youth of 2017, with the same tactics and fascist playbook.

Obama was lawless. Holder sold weapons to Mexican cartels, Obamacare was unconstitutional (but Justice Roberts was blackmailed and told that his 'sketchily adopted' kids would be taken from him the day before the decision) The NSA was used to spy on Merkel and German politicians (did you ever wonder how the US knew about the VW diesel emissions cheat or why Merkel did a complete 180 on immigration after saying integration was a total failure?), Sarkozy and French pols and Cameron and Brit pols. Ghadafi was assassinated by Al Qaeda in Libya after the US enabled it. Mubarak was overthrown in Egypt. But that didn't work out as O wanted and the place didn't get taken over by the Muslim Brotherhood.

Yes, authoritarianism - in lawlessness - has been on display for 8 years. Letting mobs rule, gangs take over cities and cops become human targets.

Mob rule is just as authoritarian as any dictator and always hurts even more people. We are at the century mark for the Russian revolution and yet a whole new generation has failed to learn that revolutionaries tend to be evil people who only care about empowering themselves.

As for me, I support Trump's changes. The stock market is higher than ever, factories are being built and rebuilt in America and tax reform is drawing foreign money. I am tired of the corrupt politicians on both sides of the aisle.

Trump really is making a difference and the political class is insanely clawing at him daily, via the media as their lifestyles and corruption is threatened - or threatened to be exposed.

The man is surrounded by weasels. Ryan, McConnell, McCain, Flake, Graham and countless others who are so corrupt they have no choice but to fight Trump in every way they can.

There is no Russian crisis. There is no fear of Trump nuking the world. Trump didn't fumble the ball when he met with China's Xi or any other leader. In fact, it's easy to see he has more respect from China than Obama, Bush or any President has ever had. Same is true with other nations. They are all far more cooperative and attentive to US needs, with Trump in the Oval Office.

If he was a moron, we would have seen it long ago - during the campaign. He gave enough hours of speeches to see that not only was he coherent and lucid, but that he clearly believed in what he was saying - which cold be verified by clips of him saying similar things all the way back to 1988.

I think you see his sheer genius as he addresses the Al Smith charity dinner. He is very cunning and knew exactly how to win the crowd early and then deliver devastating jokes on Hillary and the elites in attendance, losing the audience of elites as he did so, but making a memorable impression on viewers everywhere else.

Trump has a chip on his shoulder. In that sense he is like Bush - and Obama too. Most Presidents have that chip, something to prove to themselves. He is the Queens kid made good in Manhattan and he is the "blue collar billionaire" that's never been quite accepted by the others. He likes to nuke his meat, he's a brashy, sometimes vulgar, guy who calls it like he sees it.

Who else would have said "better you than me" to an astronaut describing drinking urine on the space station? No one would be that honest. They would think it, but would never say it.

Anyways, Trump has flaws. Lots. But he is bringing the US back from the brink of decay and destruction. You don't have to believe any of this. I know you won't. But Trump really is one of the best Presidents we have had and will end up saving far more lives and causing a better QOL for millions.

The rest of the globalist controlled socialist world will end up like Venezuela, where the left's hero Chavez screwed the pooch and killed it.

Its very likely Comey was following up on a bunch of leads implicating Trump campaign people and aides. Trump may not have been within the scope of that inquiry. Of course, if he was involved, it might eventually turn up, and the scope of the investigation expanded to include the President. When this first came up, it never occurred to me that Trump was giving away the farm to Putin. In fact, we still don't know that. All we knew was that some Trump staffers had had suspicious contacts with Russians. They weren't necessarily sinister or illegal, but they certainly needed to be looked into. The problem, as always, came with the lies and the cover-up. They were just a bit too indignant when they were asked politely. Now we need to bitch-slap them a bit til we get the truth.

I would never have believed that the President's men, much less the President himself, were involved in espionage or treason. I still don't believe that. But based on the administration's behavior, I can no longer rule it out. DAMMIT. HE'S ACTING AS IF HE WAS GUILTY! And if the investigation is not carried out satisfactorily, by an independent prosecutor, then I will have no choice but to believe it. Its like Trump's tax returns. I don't think they are necessarily fraudulent, but we have a right to see them. The fact he won't let us tells me there's something there he's trying to hide.

What I find unlikely is that Comey actually answered that question. The correct response would have been; "I'm sorry Mr President, but I cannot reveal the details of an ongoing investigation." OTOH, if POTUS asked me a direct question in good faith, I can't say I wouldn't have answered it. After all, he is the President.

The pattern's plain after all these yours, Tech: You're either a true authoritarian, or doing a damn good impression of an authoritarian.

Classic defense of a faltering Glorious Leader: "He knows what he's doing". "He knows things we don't". "The others are all out to tear the great man down with their lies." "It takes time to Make America Great Again". Sure, give him time...to consolidate his power, and before you know it, your Reichstag is a smoldering ruin.

Actually, though, I don't subscribe to the flip side of the authoritarian delusion, Trump as SuperVillain. I see a moron empowered by inherited wealth to flail about wildly in hopes of if not eventually getting his own way, distracting the world from his stupidity. Trump's out of his depth, and I expect he'll drown sooner rather than later.

That'll teach him to raise the level of the swamp.

Or to provide targets for an advancing enemy while the rest of the force withdraws to a safer position.

You know, like Stalin's Penal Battalions.

By the way, that's penal, not penile.

Pence is admittedly a rather odd fellow, but if a Pence administration would:

A) refrain from trying to eviscerate the US government,
B) respect and work within the established confines of the presidency,
C) respect and work within the established confines of the truth,
D) cease the ridiculous and destructive war on the free press,
E) stop with the damn tweeting

then maybe--maybe--we could hope for a less toxic government. But no, I wouldn't hold my breath either.
