A gift from my in laws, nice plastic ones, another pair for Ms P, plus spare cardboard ones just in case.

Likely in the SE. Have friends in Charleston, for totality, otherwise a spot in the Blue Ridge with 90% totality but a sixty mile view of the shadow sweeping the Piedmont. Difficult choice. Wyoming is an option, but remote, no place to stay, highways will be a mess...

Would like to know your optimal spot, but understand not wanting to share on a public forum.

I am pretty sure I have found the optimal spot in the eastern half of the US...

...they had some White House National Security goon telling us how the President has every right to tell anyone he wants any classified information he feels fit to tell them. We are reminded that they were also telling us Trump had every right by law to fire the head of the FBI.

Well, both of those facts ARE true. They are also irrelevant. No one is saying Trump didn't have a legal right to do those things. The question is, is it a smart thing to do? Once again, we are reminded of the new favored defense tactic of the Right: if you can't defend indefensible behavior, then defend another type of behavior that IS defensible.

No one is claiming the Russians stole the election, or that Trump didn't win fairly according to the Electoral College rules. No one is even accusing Trump's aides of being traitors. But by indignantly defending against those allegations, they hope to distract attention from the fact that the Russians interfered in our elections, that Trump won in spite of a popular minority, and that his campaign was open to blackmail from the Russians.

It reminds us of some of our own Zone conservatives, doesn't it? Move the goalposts, change the subject, and when all else fails, blame it on the left-wing media and scream that "Obama did it first".

The day before yesterday, the Trump campaign was swearing that nothing classified was discussed.

Sometimes the right hand does not know what the right hand is doing.

They featured a story yesterday about how it wasn't Trump, but actually the Washington Post that was responsible for disclosing the classified info. Oddly enough, that story has vanished today, after Trump sends out yet another tweet saying essentially that, as prezident, he can do whatever the hell he wants.
