It could be for health reasons, because of an emotional or mental breakdown, the result of an injury or dementia. Any sort of disability could disqualify him or her. We cannot have a political party that does everything they can to keep him in power because they want him to shut down EPA, or dismantle Obamacare. The world now knows that the Republican Congress can be bought, and they have a good idea of what it will cost. It doesn’t even have to be about incompetence, crime or ideology. It seems to me that we must put *explicit* limits on presidential power--we rely far too much on tradition to guide a president's behavior. We also clearly cannot count on congress to face down an incompetent and out-of-control president. Checks and balances only work if people have the guts to apply them. The Trump admin demonstrates horrendous and dangerous shortcomings in American democracy. Those you can blame are the Republican politicians and press, the GOP leaders and pundits, the right wing intellectuals (there's an oxymoron for you!) and analysts, journalists and writers, talk-radio hosts, business leaders and politicians so desperate to profit from his agenda that they look the other way and make excuses for him, spin the facts to make him look better and who fell right into line as soon as he was nominated. You will recall many of them opposed him bitterly until he won the nomination, then they fell into jack-booted, goose-stepping lockstep. And we now know who they are. Remember, some of them even posted here. They covered for Bush, and they covered for Reagan and for Nixon. They <em>can</em> help who they are, they just choose not to. The President and his base can be forgiven. It is possible to imagine circumstances where a Democratic Trump could have materialized and a corresponding constituency that could have coalesced around him. Those I cannot forgive are the Conservatives, the Right, the TParty, Freedom Caucus, the alt-right, libertarians, professional internet trolls, fundamentalists and so-called patriots who had no philosophy or ideology except hatred of the Left and unquestioning devotion and worship of the sleazeball fascist goons that make up the current Conservative wing of American politics.
