I’m concerned about the level of vitriol in the Zone too.

But you have to admit the resistance to Obama was vicious and unfair, and it never stopped. And there was no hesitancy about bringing it into the Zone. And outside, the birther crap, the accusations of Socialism and Muslim religion, the insults and disrespect, it was constant. And what was really unacceptable, I don’t think any of the smarter people in your party ever believed any of that crap. You just thought it would work in getting your knuckle-draggers riled up. Everything he did was “unpatriotic” and “unconstitutional”, “unAmerican. And although the racism may have been muted in “official” GOP communications, it was rampant in the “unofficial” Right wing press. Yeah, I particularly remember the photoshopped monkeys and the Makaka jokes. Obama didn’t fit your stereotypes, did he? He spoke good English and looked good in a business suit. You people had to put a stop to that.

He was finger-wagged by Conservative politicians on airport tarmacs so they could show off to their constituencies, called a liar in the halls of Congress in front of the TV cameras and the world, and the opposition publicly and proudly bragged they would see to it he “never got a second term”, which they then proceeded to try even if it meant opposing policies which they themselves had championed in the past. They openly and publicly bragged about their voter suppression and redistricting schemes. You people had no shame. You didn’t even bother to hide it. Every effort was made for him to fail simply so he and his party could be discredited, even if it meant shutting down the government and wrecking the nation’s credit.

I don’t really expect you to have actually noticed any of that, but it was clear as hell to us. You people hated this guy, and you were determined to sabotage his administration, even if it meant using obstruction, blackmail, “alt-news” and “alt facts” in your “alt-press”.

Even Republicans who disagreed with Obama’s policies but recognized the unfairness of these attacks soon learned it was dangerous for them to criticize their side for using these tactics. John McCain soon learned that. The trogs were ready to “primary” anybody who wasn’t in lock step with the Party Line.

And not once did a word of thanks or concession to humanity emerge for the man who stopped a Depression dead in its tracks and killed Bin Ladin (while he was simultaneously skewering the Birther in Chief!) and tried his best to disentangle us from the middle east. Did he make mistakes? Did he follow the wrong policies? Did he have a bad philosophy? Maybe, at least in part. That is a valid subject for debate, it’s why we have political parties, because we don’t all agree on what the right thing, policy or philosophy is. But the Right was out to get Obama not because he was wrong, but because they were afraid he might be right, or at least, be seen that way by the public; because it was starting to look like he was going to get us out of Bush’s war and Bush’s depression. And they never succeeded in denying him that second term, did they? He won, electoral AND popular vote. So the hate was shifted effortlessly to Hillary, although it wouldn’t have mattered who the Dems ran for President in 2016, he or she would have caught hell anyway. You guys learned hate worked, or at least, it was all you had.

Well, now its our turn. And we are in a much better position than you were. You have the House and Senate, and the Courts, and the State Houses and the governorships—and you guys can’t even get your shit together enough to pass your own programs, you have to sneak them in the back door in the middle of the night without debate or public comment. You don’t have any excuses for the mess Trumpster is cocking up, its all on you and your party.

Remember how you accused Obama of “Cramming Obamacare down our throats”? It took years, even with his majority and there was plenty of debate and comment. But now your “repeal and replace” is being put together behind closed doors in the Senate because the House defecated a secret obscenity of a bill not even your own President can stomach.

Your President is a bully and a thug and a boor that is making us look ridiculous in the eyes of the whole world, ridiculous in the eyes of half the American people, and even to the half of the Republican party that is afraid to speak out against him in public. The comparison with Obama will be remembered by the American people–and by history.

So now you want us to cut you some slack? You never gave us any. Take a good long look in that vampire mirror of yours. There’s no one there staring back at you, is there?. You were so convinced of the righteousness of your cause that you felt you were perfectly justified in whatever you did to destroy your enemies, whatever it took to bury them. They’re commies and traitors and atheists anyway–you had a right to do whatever it took to put them down. Anything’s fair in love, war, balancing the budget and cutting corporate taxes, right?

Its too early to tell yet whether you’ll get your way or not. But you were successful in one thing, for sure. You have changed the way political discourse is carried out in this country, forever. So don’t expect us to forgive you for that.
