People lie to cover up mistakes, or bad actions, to fool others, or to build themselves up or gain some advantage; but Trump seems to lie for absolutely no reason at all. And he seems to make no effort whatsoever to cover up his lies after they are exposed. But what's really remarkable is no matter how much he lies, or how badly, his followers somehow just don't seem to care. Its as if they are so emotionally invested in him and his program, so determined and desperate to believe his promises, that they simply cannot allow themselves to doubt him. Fundamentalist religion works like that. To question the literal truth of Scripture or dogma is not honest doubt, it is blasphemy, apostasy. It seems to be related to Stockholm Syndrome.
