Medicare will be next. And Social Security will soon follow.

Keep your eyes open for a new narrative to emerge...how greedy baby boomers and their "entitlements" are threatening millennials by consuming all their tax money through their extravagant senior welfare programs. The young are already stressed, they can't afford education, housing, credit or access to decent jobs as it is, while their greedy elders own their homes and RVs, take Viking cruises and retire comfortably on their IRAs and 401Ks and on their corporate pensions. At least, that will be the picture they'll paint: one of struggling young workers and greedy senior citizens on their dole. The latter, of course, will soon be threatened by the banks investing their pension funds in their own get rich quick schemes, and the new generation of workers, temps, interns, part-timers and contract workers, will never have one of their own.

Right now, the enormous voting power of a rapidly aging population is all that's preventing this scenario from emerging; but as us old farts start dying off and as we get weaker and sicker the balance will start to shift. I bet there are already social engineers mapping out the propaganda campaign in exquisite detail...

Divide and Conquer, the oldest tactic in the book.

If we survive this with our nation intact, they should never be able to forget what they did- EVER.
Their stupidity will hopefully be taught as a cautionary tale to their children, and their grandchildren...

People that are terrified of losing their health care wont fight back when corporations exploit them for cheap labor...

And when people are scared it is easy to redirect that to a target of your choice- immigrants, muslims, etc... remember how TB helped whip Jody and Rob into a frenzy about how the muslims are coming to molest our women? It worked so well they voted for a candidate that married an immigrant (probably an illegal one at that- he never did provide the documentation he promised) and bragged about molesting women...

Stupid and Scared is what conservatives need to survive... they only thrive when a large portion of the population lives in terror of joining the destitute class the conservatives malign... and when they are too stupid to understand that it is the conservatives that have rigged the system to put them on the edge of that cliff.

And it is WORKING:<img src="http://i1075.photobucket.com/albums/w421/rlafon1/Screen_Shot_2014-12-05_at_11.07.02_AM.jpg" alt="" />

This 'Health' bill will kill many thousands more Americans than any terrorist group could ever hope to- and the conservatives know it... they are banking on it- those deaths will serve as a warning to the rest of us that we better not do anything that hurts their profits, or we are next. Only %16 of americans support this bill- they don't care, in fact they MAY fail to pass it because the more radical conservatives think it doesn't kill enough of their constituents... They want to thin the herd and get a windfall in the form of tax-cuts for corporations and the wealthy.

That is all they ever stood for, but some were too stupid to realize it.

It is economic. Its about self-interest, its nothing but money.
Some say its about power, too, but power and money are synonymous. You can't have one without the other.

Trump offers a better chance to further their economic agenda of lower taxes, (especially for the rich), lower worker wages and public welfare, and a lowering of regulation on business, which is just another way of saying increased profits for the ownership class. Nothing else matters to these people, nothing else is important. Other issues, like abortion, religion, race, defense, justice, guns, morality are collateral and subservient to the economic imperative, they may matter to the Right's allies, but the core of the right wing program is furthering their economic hegemony and preserving their command of the distribution of wealth. If their current leadership is hopelessly flawed, no matter, because what really does matter is in good hands. Everything else, like the nation's enemies or the global climate, will take care of itself.

These are people who see themselves as the legitimate inheritors of wealth, because they and they alone have a worth ethic and create wealth. Everyone else is just a freeloader, only they have a right, only they deserve the power to make economic decisions because everyone else is unqualified, morally and intellectually to do that work and reap its rewards. Everyone else is contemptible. They are the ones who are entitled to rule, or at least, to manage.

Its fascism, pure and simple. And it is the perfect fascist principle, because it does not depend on family, nobility, blood, ethnicity, culture, nationalism, religion or genetics. They are the makers, everyone else is a taker. What is good for them must be better for everyone else because no one else matters.

You've read Rand, you've heard their masturbatory fantasies about entrepreneurism, and you've seen how they have managed to gather allies and collaborators by conflating their ideology of accumulation with patriotism, religion, and bigotry. You've seen them at work right here on the Zone, and throughout the net. This is economic narcissism.

<em>"I deserve favor because I recognize the intrinsic superiority and nobility of the commercial mentality, and therefore, by implication, the intrinsic degeneracy and inferiority of all other forms of human self-actualization. And all those who are not with me are against me, they just want to steal what I have earned and made through my hard work and intelligence."
</em>
These are the new NAZIs. Just substitute "Businessman" for "Aryan", and "Socialist" for "Jew" and the rhetoric is indistinguishable.

...I think the more burning question is WhyT<i>F</i> congressional Republicans are still covering for this...(look up at board title, restrain myself) miscreant? Because the party loyalty so intense as to condone treason is also self-limiting because of self-interest: re-election. And while gerrymandering and voter suppression have given the GOP a documented 7% advantage through cheating, the outrage at their complicity may break through that final shield against accountability.

Short answer: Republican politicians are coming in for a hard landing. They're running out of time to pull up.
