...Trump's dinner summit with Putin was probably pretty innocent, and the press has probably exagerrated its importance and significance. This doesn't mean I don't think the Trumpster is deep in hock to the Putin Mafia, just that in this particular instance there is probably nothing to it.

My evidence is the sudden flurry of self-righteous indignation from the Trump gang. Anyone else would have simply set the record straight and moved on. But Trump seems to be determined to use the incident to distract us from the rest of his crimes and treachery. He has established a behavioral pattern that is pretty predictable.
Like a kid accused of constant mischief, when he can finally point to an accusation against him that is unfair, he milks it for all its worth.

Trump has absolutely no credibility. Trump's impromptu dinner meeting with Putin is just another example of the contempt this president has for everything but his own agenda.

The careful control of disclosure, to only release the minimum amount of information only when forced to by the "fake" press is getting very old. This white house is about as transparent as a carefully constructed concrete block wall. Its not impenetrable, but it takes a lot of hits with a sledge to get a peek in and you know you are only seeing a small subset of what's going on inside.

A gangster state. And Mr Trump fits right in. For people like him, it's not even criminal, or treasonous activity. They see it as simply "business". For them, this is what "real men" do, governments are just little gangs of sniveling accountants who interfere with the real movers and shakers. And for them, legit financiers and industrialists are just chumps, shopkeepers, street peddlers. And if they feel that way about businessmen, can you imagine the total contempt they have for mere workers?

You're right about the money laundering aspect of this. That lady lawyer is actually a registered lobbyist, trying to overturn the Obama sanctions on Russian oligarchs, including Putin, who were stashing money in the West.

But no matter what turns up in these investigations, and even if legal action is taken against the perpetrators and criminal penalties handed out, the right wing will go to their graves believing these are noble entrepreneurs victimized by statist bureaucrats. For them, this is a legitimate activity justified because it keeps the government from taxing your profits.
