In fact, corruption is starting to become institutionalized in Trumptown. Its quite a contrast with the squeaky clean Obama administration, eh? Hell, even the Clintons were saints by comparison. All they could catch them on was a little extracurricular office sex--you know, Banghazi!

Yeah, I've been amusing myself by reviewing some of TB's old posts as well.

I suppose he has finally gotten the government he wants, I'm surprised he isn't here defending it more often, as well as rubbing our noses in the truth about AGW, or at least, that "GW" MIGHT be real, but certainly not the "A" part. That might involve raising taxes and regulating industry. The horror!

Of course, if cornered, he would probably just tell us that Trump isn't REALLY a True Conservative, so his regime does not REALLY invalidate Conservative principles, or justify Liberal ones.

Unfortunately, in Real democracies with Real governments in Real history, (not Rand or Heinlein masturbatory political SF pornography), you never get perfection, and you certainly never get ideological purity; you always wind up with a compromise, a hybrid. Or as our old friend Marx described the dialectic; thesis + antithesis = synthesis. That's how healthy democracies work, you never get exactly what you want, if you're lucky you just get something that leans somewhat in a direction everyone can live with at least until the next election.

I guess this time we just didn't get lucky.
