Trump's problem, of course, is that he always assumes he's the smartest guy in the room (the word "guy" being used deliberately, as I very much doubt Trump includes women in this calculation).

He's probably astonished that he's having trouble getting away with crap like this now.

Hmmm... a nuclear sub generates steam for propulsion, but DPRK boats are conventional, and run on diesels on the surface and batteries submerged. Perhaps they're using compressed air for the slugs, the way torpedoes are sent on their way, which would require running on the surface on diesel power for long periods while pumping up the compressed air needed to do the job. This would certainly qualify as unusual behavior if we were monitoring these activities, and would probably be pretty noisy making it easy for our sensors to detect. But I'm speculating, I don't know for sure, but I've never heard of diesel boats designed for this kind of work.

is how Putin "punished" Obama for his sanctions on Ukraine. One of the sanctions was the Magnitsky Bill, which made it harder for Russian oligarchs to launder money in the USA. That Russian lady lawyer that attended the meeting is lobbying Congress to roll back the Magnitsky Bill, no doubt using the poor little orfinks as cover. This way its not only legal, but humanitarian.

My guess is the Russians, including Putin, were investing heavily in USA real estate (including Trump and/or Kushner properties) as a means of laundering their cash and stashing it outside Russia. Wasn't one of the other Russians at that meeting a banker? You know, this might have not even been illegal, since presumably it all involves legit transactions, but it is a perfect way to shakedown a naive businessman who doesn't know what he's involved in, or doesn't care. The trail of evidence winds through the Trump tax returns, which explains a lot.

"Russian Orphans" is a code word, and cover, for the whole operation. Can you spell "kompromat"?

By diregarding his lawyers, and taking it upon himself to fabricate a statement for his son that covered up the collusion, Trump has made it clear that he is aware his russian collusion is something that can get him in trouble... not only is he guilty, he KNOWS he is guilty.

As Trump tweeted this evening: "A great day at the White House"
