The smart ones don't care if he's a bully, a thug and an incompetent fool, as long as they think he can further their agenda of no taxes for the rich, no regulation on business and other policies designed to keep worker's wages low and corporate profits high. That's all that matters to them. The dumb ones will never admit to themselves they've been conned into believing that a tough white guy can turn the clock back to 1955, McCarthyism, white supremacy, and a seemingly endless expansion of postwar prosperity and lower middle class suburban consumerism. They're just bright enough to understand that something's wrong, and they will eagerly follow anyone who claims he has an easy solution, especially if it dovetails with their pre-existing prejudices and fantasies. Trump is right. He CAN shoot someone in broad daylight in Times Square and no troglodyte jury will ever convict him. We've already seen that no lie, blunder or grotesquerie is even questioned by his supporters. The deplorables will simply not admit to themselves that not only were they mistaken, that they were systematically lied to, but that they bought it gladly, that they did it to themselves, that they collaborated willingly in their own manipulation. The only way the national immune system will kick in and reject Trump is if it becomes clear to the corporate oligarchy that Trump's policies threaten their profits. Then he will be gone so fast no one will know what happened, and the Donald will be replaced by someone who can actually deliver. And that's when it will really get ugly.
