GOP dignity wraiths didn’t support Trump to further his agenda, they did it to further theirs, and now they are riding the tiger and don’t know how to get off.

They thought that having a Republican in the Oval, and control of both houses would allow them to enact their goals of cutting taxes, regulation, and flooding the Judicial Branch with like minded zealots for a generation. Any Republican would have served their cause but only one, who isn’t really a conservative, could have beat HRC in the general. (With help from an adversarial country.)

So they went with the game show host, thought they could tame him, that he would pivot, become “presidential”, etc., etc.

But instead, they have unleased chaos, and those seeds cast to the wind are now swirling in the whirlwind. Instead of decreasing the size of government, they are facing the destruction of government. A non-interventionist philosophy is now facing nuclear war.

The GOP put party before country. They supported a madman in their zealotry and are starting to realize now that they have might have destroyed both county and party.

It’s not too late. But not for long. If Corker can get others to wake up and work together, they might just save themselves and the rest of us.

Corker’s no hero, he’s just another cynical opportunist.
