All that evil concentrated in one place for so long was not only a plague on the victims, it infected everyone there, the perpetrators and the innocent, for all time. There is good and evil everywhere, and forever, of course. But in some places and times the worst poison seems to linger and fester and persist. Hatred, envy, spite, bile and of course, ignorance, are not only diseases that slowly kill the afflicted, they spread to all who come in contact with them. But down there they it embrace it as tradition, they lovingly call it their heritage. They are proud they're like that. What can men do against such reckless hate?
