And there is nothing new about this, the decline in the average American's wealth and standard of living (the shift to the higher income levels of all new wealth generated by increasing productivity--i.e, "income inequality") can be traced back to the Reagan Revolution. After all, that's why we had a Reagan Revolution, isn't it? You want footnotes? Read your Piketty. The poverty line is moving up and more and more people are slipping under it. Sooner or later, the rubes will get wise to what's happened to them, and the GOP is betting that by that time the Democrats will be back in power and can take the blame for what's happened.
