Sir Richard Starkey (AKA Ringo Starr) was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II this week. He joins fellow Beatle Paul McCartney who was knighted in 1997.
All four members of the band received the O.B.E. in 1965 (a prerequisite to knighthood) but only the surviving members of the Fab Four bent the knee and got the hack.
Congratulations, lads.
