I agree with you that it's an excellent work, well written and produced. I liked the slow reveal, starting out like another Star Trek knockoff (think The Orville), then it's a VR game, and then we start to learn about the dark, darker, and darkest motivations of its creator.

Of course, to a strict "hard" science fiction geek, the premise is pure manure. DNA doesn't encode personality except in the vaguest way, and it certainly can't be used to clone a consciousness, complete with up-to-date memories. As sci-fi hand-waving goes it was weak, but after suspending disbelief, it powered a really engaging story.

That sounds like really good science fiction, or more important, really good drama. SF allows us to devise human scenarios that do not, or even cannot, exist in "the real world". Nothing new about that, when you think about it, ALL fiction is speculative, to a certain extent, and everything from Greek Tragedy to Shakespeare has relied on gods, spirits, magic, ghosts and other fantasy elements to explore some basic human issues. Even historical fiction is really set in an "alternate universe"

Thanks for the samples. That looks like really good writing and acting. I recognized Domhall Gleason (from Ex Machina) and the dude from Mad Men (Jon Hamm). Do you know if these shows are available for purchase on DVD?

Again, I'd like to depart from my usual doom and gloom rants to salute modern alternative TV technologies and venues for producing some really first-rate drama. Its about time the medium fulfilled its promise. I had a feeling once we got the performing arts away from the accountants and marketeers and turned it over to the artists and technicians, we would get a real renaissance in entertainment and literature. Film and TV are the defining art forms of the 20th and 21st centuries, and it appears like they are really in good shape.
