My print edition of Geology doesn't arrive for a few days yet,
but I'm looking forward to reading this article.

1.7 billion years ago is a long time, long before Pangea. Paleo-tectonic reconstructions this old are challenging. The rocks are typically very deformed and recrystallized; and the paleomagnetic signals tend to be unreliable. Still, good old fashioned petrology can tell us a lot.

Thanks for the heads up, Rob. (And for breathing some life into the Space Science Board.)
