President Trump has invited Vladimir Putin to the USA “this fall”. I understand this is not finalized–a lot must happen, in the right order–before this takes place. But having said that, if it DOES happen, just when can we expect it to occur?

Astronomical autumn extends from September to December, and our midterm elections occur right in the middle of this period. Now that Mr Putin has become an issue in our politics, I can imagine that a fall visit by the Russian president could be problematic. Whether he shows up before or after the election could make a big difference, and the effect and significance is impossible to predict ahead of time.

I shiver in anticipation just contemplating the possibilities of this visit. Has anyone here heard whether the proposed Washington Summit has been scheduled before or after November 6? And is there any possibility Mr Putin will be here ON Election Day?

It boggles the mind.
