It has been used for CGI in major movies...

The image I modeled and rendered has no post-processing yet- I am trying to approximate the painting as closely as possible first by just the objects I put in the scene- for instance the mist that gives a sense of distance is a giant cube that the scene is embedded in filled with a very mild 'volume scatterer' that is actually scattering the simulated light rays...

The material of the pillars is actually photoscanned granite with color maps, displacement maps, specular reflection maps and more... I have adjusted the color map by mixing it with another color to try and tweak the hue... once I feel I have gotten as close as possible with the base model, I process the final image to achieve any additional modifications that seem needed...

Blender is immensely powerful- and learning it even at the amateur level I am at now has been one of the most valuable investments of time I have made- I use it regularly for my job to design equipment, build models for 3d printing pieces of the equipment, and to illustrate concepts and take my presentations for talks to a whole different level- Plus it is an enjoyable hobby....

You can brighten up the colors of any image by running the RGB image into a Hue-Intensity-Saturation transform. Then do a linear contrast stretch on the Saturation band before you transform back into RGB. That's how NASA got those early pizza pie images of Titan and shaded them into those beautiful, subtle Cedar Waxwing brown shades.

Every other house in America had it hanging on the wall.

My friend Chester used to have a copy framed on his wall, he called it "Surf's Up".

There's a scene in one of the Star Wars flicks where that porch is used as the backdrop of a Queen Amadaladingdon and Anakin Skywalker love scene. Its her palace on Alderon. It's not an exact copy, but I'm sure the director was doing his own homage to Maxfield Parrish. He's one of my favorite modern artists, along with Maurits Escher and Alphonse Mucha.
