She went to the wrong apartment by mistake, thinking it was hers. When her key didn't open the door, she knocked, thinking an intruder inside had locked the door. The tenant opened the door and there was a shot. Maybe some "words" were exchanged, but I really have no way of knowing.

No, I don't think she deliberately shot the man just because he was black, it was an accident. She was scared and geared up for a fight, he was probably outraged at being confronted by an armed cop in his own house. Some kind of misunderstanding was almost inevitable. But I bet if a white person had answered the door there would have been no gunfire.

With the current tension these days concerning white-cop-on-black man shootings, the "community" is going to be out for blood. This time all the facts are clearly on their side and they will want revenge. The cops are not going to be able to cover this up or sleaze their way out of it. So this officer will be sacrificed to keep the peace. Technically, this is manslaughter, and she will probably suffer a severe penalty for it. Its sad, but that's the way it is. Involuntary manslaughter, even if it results from an accident, is a serious crime. If she is not charged, or is acquitted, or gets a light sentence, there will probably be hell to pay on the street.

She's probably not a bad person, she's probably not even a prejudiced person. And clearly, there's no way the victim could have been blamed for this. But like I said, if a white person had answered the door there probably would have been no gunfire.
