I still haven’t a clue.
Its possible we might find out tomorrow, but that’s not likely, no matter what might happen at the hearing. The point is, we simply don’t have enough facts to make a decision, or even an informed guess. Mr Kavanaugh may be guilty, he may be innocent, or there is even a possibility the truth might fall somewhere in between.
But I feel that before we do find out, or until this issue is resolved for sure one way or the other (regardless of whether that resolution is just or not) we all need to go on record and declare publicly what our opinion is. It is what we all owe Mr K., as well as his alleged victims. I’ll be the first to concede that, because of my own prejudices, I HOPE he is guilty and he and his partisans are severely punished. But I also must concede that it is possible he is being ambushed by a cynical criminal conspiracy for purely political reasons, and if that is ever established it will be devastating to my side. I simply don’t know, one way or the other.
All I know for sure is someone is lying here, but I don’t know who, no one knows. Whether it is someone determined to stop his nomination at all costs regardless of his innocence, or someone who seeks to nominate him no matter what his crimes, is still unknown, and may forever remain unknown. This is intolerable. We are faced with the dilemma of either placing a vile criminal on the bench of the highest court in the land, or destroying the career and reputation of a decent and innocent man
How did it come to this? How did we get to this place? Who is responsible for this reckless hate? Who started this ruthless, take-no-prisoners war of annihilation? Well, I DO have an opinion about that. In fact, there is absolutely no doubt in my mind.
