But Mr Kavenaugh lost me when he fell into the usual Republican
conspiracy theories, “Clinton envy”, “Democratic revenge”, “left wing funded” evildoers out to get him, you know the same old paranoid Trump con job cosmology. I’m surprised he didn’t blame Obama while he was at it, or some Commie careerist climatologist cabal. Shortly afterwards, the proceedings, which up to then had been refreshingly free of partisan conflict, degenerated into the usual turd fest.

All you really need to know to understand this spectacle is that the GOP wants to rush this nomination so it falls before the elections, the Dems want to delay it till after. The Republicans are determined to consolidate the gains they have made under Trump forever; Obamacare, AGW, tax cut; as well as stack the court with sTrumpets in case they need to bail out their chief (Can you spell “Constitutional Crisis”?)

Oh, and one other thing. Dr Ford had nothing to gain today; Judge Kavanaugh had everything to lose. That may not be proof, but in the absence of an FBI investigation, it will have to do.
