Noticed it but didn't know what to make of it. Affectation? Nervousness? Buying time? Guilt?

I haven't noticed anybody calling attention to Kavanaugh's dire need to rehydrate during his <strike>lying</strike>testimony. But consider his dehydration, irritability bleeding into rage, the slight tremor of his hands, his pastier-than-normal complexion, the doughier-than-usual texture of his face.

His unhinged rant was called uncharacteristic by his supporters. But then, he probably didn't go on an epic bender the night before his previous appearances.

Somebody should have asked him if he remembered last night.

Trump already has a reputation as an adulterer, serial womanizer, pussy grabber (his term, not mine), multiple divorcer and an alleged abortion enabler. His oral majority doesn't seem to care all that much, as long as he CLAIMS to be Christian, pro-gun, pro-life and racist now.

The only coherent political philosophy his followers seem to have is their need to piss off Liberals. Trump used to be a declared Lib, right in the Clinton inner circle, as many of his Republican campaign opponents pointed out before he was nominated. It is not inconceivable that he has fairly lefty personal politics, but was perfectly willing to lie about them because he knew the Deplorable voter wasn't too bright, and the pro-business voter would gladly sell his soul and his country for a tax cut.

https://www.newsweek.com/sexual-assault-should-not-disqualify-kavanaugh-proven-majority-republicans-1141877

The survey asked, "If it were proven that Brett Kavanaugh sexually assaulted a woman when they were both high school students 36 years ago, do you think that does or does not disqualify Kavanaugh from being a Supreme Court Justice?"

Forty-eight percent of respondents overall thought it should disqualify him, while 28 percent said it should not, and 24 percent were not sure, according to the results from The Economist/YouGov. But among Republicans, a majority—55 percent—thought a proven allegation of sexual assault does not disqualify Kavanaugh from serving on the Supreme Court. About one-quarter, 27 percent, thought it does disqualify him, while 18 percent were not sure. The vast majority of Democrats—71 percent—thought a proven allegation of sexual assault should disqualify Kavanaugh.

Another:

Eighty-three percent of Republicans support Kavanaugh's nomination, according to a recent survey by NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist Poll. More noteworthy, 54 percent of Republicans said that they would support confirming Kavanaugh even if it turned out that the sexual assault accusations against him are true. Only 32 percent of Republican voters disagreed with that sentiment.

Notably, a separate poll found that Kavanaugh's support among Republican women has dropped considerably. While 60 percent of Republican women said that Kavanaugh should be confirmed as of last week, that number has dropped to only 49 percent as of this week, according to the Morning Consult/Politico poll.

Republican feelings do not mirror those of the rest of the American public, however.

The NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist Poll found that, overall, 43 percent of Americans oppose Kavanaugh serving on the Supreme Court, 38 percent support him doing so and 19 percent remain unsure of how they feel. Seventy-seven percent of Democrats oppose Kavanaugh's confirmation, as do 41 percent of independents (42 percent of independents say they would support confirming him). That said, 59 percent of Americans said that Kavanaugh should not be confirmed if the sexual assault accusations against him are true, with only 29 percent saying he should be confirmed regardless and 12 percent being unsure either way.

He has lied multiple times- not just on this sordid matter, serious matters - his finances, his involvement in the human rights violations of the Bush administration...

Ford was credible, the opposition of the GOP to FBI investigation, to bringing in witnesses all demonstrated they were afraid of the truth, a truth they themselves suspect, but one that will not deter their agenda.

They hid behind a woman to ask questions for them, and then when Kavanaughs turn came they kicked her out and turned it into an indignant bro's party...

The GOP and anyone that supports them is spineless trash. They have no morals or ethics, they just want power and tax cuts for themselves and those that bought them.

This is kind of what I was alluding to a while back when I wondered here whether Trump was trying to recreate the court in his own image: now we see Kavanaugh is as conspiracy-minded as is his orange bestie. If he's elevated, Trumpmerica becomes that much more real, liberalism that much more endangered and SCOTUS an angrier and more openly politicized place.

I find myself with very little doubt about Kavanough's guilt. I've known guys like that--so confident in their own right to do as they please, so willing to bully in order to get their way, and unable to contain their anger when they don't. No wonder Trump likes him so much.
