I don’t hate Trump so much I want him to fail even in those efforts that might benefit me. That’s the sort of tactics the GOP used against Obama. They weren’t just opposed to his policies, they were out to discredit his party and his political philosophy. THey even opposed his policies when they were just modifications of Republican policies, like Obamacare.And I also suspect they never cared much for him personally. I wonder why. It must have been those big ears. I can’t think of anything else it might have been…

When the Pueblo Crisis broke out, Dewey was sent to Korean waters, where we spent 56 days on patrol until a boiler casualty forced us to return to Japan. It was a record for a ship of our type. I don’t blame him, no one else has been able to get anywhere with those people either. But until he can show us some concrete results, lets not use his limited and inconclusive contacts with them as evidence of his virtue, courage and intelligence.

I feel I have a stake in this. My ship was sent to the Sea of Japan during the Pueblo Crisis. It was the only time in my life I WANTED to be in combat.

Which means he held them hostage for 70 years, for no other purpose than to cause pain to their families. I refuse to celebrate the cynical release of those remains now as a kindness by the N Koreans, and certainly not as a diplomatic victory by Mr Trump. It is evidence of extreme cynicism on both their parts.
