And the assault on the constitution begins in earnest October 30, 2018 3:25 pm RL

This is section 1 of the 14th amendment in its entirety:

“All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the state wherein they reside. No state shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any state deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws. ”

I have heard conservative talking heads on TV and the Radio stating that somehow this only applies to the children of citizens- that it is only an accidental habit we have developed that allows it to apply to children of non-citizens. They claim that the Supreme court hasn’t weighed in on it.

There is NOTHING left up to interpretation here, Nothing for any court to weigh in on:

“All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the state wherein they reside. ”

As for the claims by Trump, Kellyanne Conway, Pence and the others that this issue has never been decided by the supreme court, that is a lie it was upheld by the court in the case of US vs Kim Wong Ark-in 1898.
There is nothing to be decided, no grey area.

Conservatives claim that the president has the absolute right to nullify a constitutional right by a simple executive order… Not only is that patently false, but I cannot imagine a steeper, more slippery slope. Which constitutional right or protection would be next? Would a president be able to pick and choose what religions can be practiced? Is it hard to imagine that Trump would ban the Muslim faith? What about the freedom of the press? Trump has already said he would like to place limits on that as well… What about the 8th amendment that prohibits cruel and unusual punishment? Trump has already advocated torture…

Which constitutional protections are YOU willing to trust to the whims of a single man… Much less a ‘man’ like Trump ? Because if trump is allowed to personally rewrite the 14th, then he can rewrite all your rights.
