Its in trouble in the USA, the UK, France and Germany, and the viable alternative is well established in China and Russia, and apparently flourishing. Its happening on every continent, I can’t think of any country where the plague is not getting worse. What is the cause? There must be one, because the disease is widespread and general. It can’t be blamed on just local or historical conditions.

Fascism is on the march all over the world as the terrified middle classes of the entire planet feel threatened with losing the material gains of the 20th century. And the fundamental cause of this terror is income inequality. No matter how much we produce, or how hard we work, or how productive we may be, if the benefits are all harvested and sequestered by a diminishing elite, the bulk of the population will experience it as slipping back to relative poverty. The lower classes are swelling, and the middle classes are shrinking. And the middle classes still remember what it was like being poor. They will never accept it.

And fascism is the dictatorship of the middle class.
