His critics see them as an unholy alliance of unscrupulous businessmen, cynical opportunists and exploited, ignorant, scared masses easily whipped up by demagogues to anger and hate using bigotry and xenophobia. I don't think this is going to be settled by reasoned and deliberate debate. It wasn't the last time.
