They decided that since Trump was running under the party banner- and _especially_ since he repulsed the libs- they would support him no matter what atrocity he dished out.

Well, banning and singling out people based on religion suddenly was a good and righteous thing to do… TB helped whip up the conservatives here to go off on a hysterical panic about muslims coming here to rape our good christian girls… Jody predictably went into a tizzy, since the subject of rape gets her so worked up that she will vote for an American sexual predator in order to stop the fictional foreign rapists…

RobVG went from claiming he would be willing to march for Black Lives Matters to explaining why it was ok for Trump to encourage supporters to beat BLM protesters at his rallies.

We explained the obvious fact that the man that pushed the racist birther conspiracy, and had the fervent support of neo-nazis and white supremacists over and over was obviously a racist, while they pretended to be SHOCKED we would ever make that connection…

As the atrocities of the administration became more abhorrent they doubled down on their insane justifications of why it was all still just fine…
To the point that RobVG claimed that ripping immigrant children from their parents and then losing them in the system was ‘a long overdue deterrent’:

While the inevitable disaster of a Trump presidency was clearly obvious, the conservatives assured us that we were silly:

TB, FrankC, SteveS and Jody left after repeatedly being humiliated when they tried to push the party line in one defense of Trump after another only to have Trump himself pull the rug out from under them by switching from “I didn’t do X” to “Yeah I did X and had every right to do X and should probably do Y and Z too!”

They also resented being held accountable for their actions and their previous assurances that Trump would bring greatness to America. The one thing the party of personal responsibility cannot abide is accountability for their lies and the lives they destroyed.

Frank is still posting racist memes elsewhere, as well as regurgitating russian bot propaganda about the ‘COVID-19 HOAX’, much to the embarrassment of his few sane relatives.

Jody went elsewhere to giggle about how she was a deplorable for a while, then decided that she doesn’t like to talk about politics so much anymore- so you can find her posting inane pictures of cats in funny hats, while their eyes beg for the sweet release of death…

TB and SteveS went on to post in the ‘safe-space’ comments section of the conservative news site hotair.com, but have grown quieter… but not before TB explained how condemning the Saudis for butchering Khashoggi would play into the liberal’s hands, and SteveS got a lot of mileage making vulgar jokes about Justice Kavanaugh’s victim Christine Blasey Ford and her trauma stemming from the attempted rape.

There is more, so much more- but you get the gist.

Voting for Trump didn’t turn them into vile people, of course- they voted for Trump because he gave them permission to openly be the vile people they always were.

They were warned about how this would play out long before the election… so they cannot plead ignorance:

The conservatives covered their eyes and ears and screamed ‘Nuh-unh!’ . They were as surprised as most were when Trump won.

The conservative posters stuck around a bit to gloat over the ‘victory’, but very quickly learned that it would be impossible to defend the actions of the man they sold their souls to.

Then the reality of their position began to sink in…

They were used to being fed a party line they could regurgitate ad nauseam to explain away the latest outrage… the problem was, with Trump, the carefully crafted party line would be undercut by Trump himself… usually in less than a day.

They had nothing to fall back on… they no longer could claim to actually believe the principles they used to espouse… they threw away that pretense when they supported Trump…

So rather than defend the indefensible, or even worse- admit their hypocrisy… they ran away into the wilds of the internet…

It is rumored that on dark quiet nights, you can hear them meme-ing and moaning forlornly in long neglected comment sections of right wing blogs… but I do not believe in such tales and ghost stories… for I know the sad truth.

The truth is much more humiliating…

One day, youngster, I will tell you what became of the old ones, the ones that celebrated the coming of the Orange Beast… one day, when your ears are ready for such tales…
