But allow me a word of defense for the boomers. We tried to warn America that this was the world that was coming, but nobody wanted to hear it, and nobody cared. Maybe we didn’t get all the details right, but we pretty much predicted the future, it was just a little longer materializing than we expected. And with a little luck, we’ll miss it

But “Cut your hair, get a job, and quit your bitching.” was all the advice we got in return for our idealism and our activism. We stopped the war and sent Richard Nixon straight to hell where he belonged and nobody even said “Thanks”. So we said “fuck it”, and played the game with the cards we were dealt. We played fair, but we played to win. Sure, we got a lot of breaks up front, and we know that, but we can’t help it if we’re lucky. And now the shit is about to hit the fan but we don’t care because we are getting old and are not long for this world. Don’t blame us, we tried to warn you. And we certainly didn’t start the fire. We hate to say, “I told you so.”, but, we told you so.
